Just got back from appointment #2 with my new acupuncturist Madalina (who now works here). I think she is awesome in case anyone in Denver is looking for someone.
After doing some funky pulse-checking technique, and looking at my tongue, she said I have compromised spleen chi. Apparently this is not abnormal for a woman my age. I asked what to do, and she said to just keep up with the diet.
At home, I referenced The Infertility Cure, by Dr. Randine Lewis. For spleen qi deficiency, it says, amongst other things, to avoid cold veggies, especially "energetically cold" veggies like lettuce and spinach. How does anyone figure out that lettuce has a colder energy than broccoli?! I've been having a big salad every day, so sounds like a better choice would be steamed veggies.
Also, I asked Madalina if she had any of those little pH papers so I could check my pH (acidity / alkalinity) level. She did! Yay! This should be a fun science experiment, and will surely show how well I've been following my diet! But -- it's 6.4. Not good, she said -- should be 7. Damn, I've been doing this diet for almost a week now, and was expecting perfection a bit too soon. However, I read here that before a meal, a 6 is normal.
Sometimes I wonder if any of this honestly matters at all. BUT, being the good student of the Infertility Experts of the World, I will follow their advice and see where it takes me.
