I had a check-up this morning along with an ultrasound. Baby M is doing great, the ultrasound tech estimated that she's 5 lbs 13 oz and she'll be 7 lbs at birth. Of course that's give or take a pound or so. She said Colorado babies tend to be smaller than the national average because of altitude. Didn't know that! Also Baby M is breech. So doc can now say my c-section is medically necessary, yay.
The doc I met with today is the one doing the section -- I haven't seen him since my very first appointment, but he's scheduled to work at the hospital on the date we picked. I like him a lot, he's super blunt and doesn't talk down to me. The other doc I've been seeing lately I really like too, he's not blunt and more nurturing, but he's not scheduled to work on our chosen day so I can't have him. I always ask them about the scar -- who's doing the cutting, who's doing the sewing, is the midwife assigned that day good at sewing up women to avoid a big scar. But I never know if they're being honest. I wish there was someone I could ask about who does the best job sewing, and I'd change the date to get that person!
I changed Baby M's name this week. I've been calling her Sarah for the past couple of months but now I think I'm going with what was my second choice, Mia. DH likes both names. There's not an overarching reason that I decided to change it. Partially because Mia seems like a stronger name, partially because there are more cutsie nicknames I can come up with, partially because we've met soooo many Sarah's in CO. And partially because I'm being a slight flake during my pregnancy. ;) Both names were in the top 20 girls' names on the Social Security site, with Mia at #15 and Sarah at #18. I didn't set out for a popular name, but what can I say, I'm not the only parent who has good taste in names. =)
There aren't too many physical annoyances to complain about. After my first trimester puke sessions, I really can't get too upset about any physical annoyances anymore. I haven't had any contractions. I do have trouble breathing, so I have the humidifier going non-stop. I don't get as sick to my stomach as I had been, guess that got better about a week ago. I did have some water come out on Saturday --about 2 oz. It happened, of all times, while I was at a party, without my husband, who was winter camping somewhere with no mobile phone reception! I didn't call the doc or anything because it wasn't much liquid. And it wasn't noticable so I decided to stay at the party. I realize that makes me sound pretty grody but I don't get out much these days, plus I don't anticipate being able to get out much in the next few months. So don't judge me. ;) From what I've Google'd it sounds like it was a hind water leak, which is a small rip in the sac, but since there are 2 layers of membranes, once they shift, it closes up. The U/S tech suspected I lost fluid (I didn't mention it to her before she said that) but said I have enough. The doc said as long as it wasn't continuous and I haven't had contractions, it's nothing to worry about.
We're definitely ready around here. I went to the MOM's (mothers of multiples) sale last weekend in Castle Rock with a friend who is due a week earlier than me, and we got stuff we didn't get from our registries, pretty cheap. What an experience -- when we got there it was 2 minutes to opening time and there must've been 400 women in line! I wanted to bail but we waited and the doors opened and the line went fast. It was a very well coordinated event. There were some shoppers who were acting as if all the stores in the world had burned down and this was the only opportunity to get kid stuff. Who knows maybe I'll be like that at the next sale, wagon in one hand and laundry basket in another, ready to stock up for the next year. =)
In a week I have a photo shoot with a photographer in town, Jennie at Babycakes, to take pics of this great big baby belly that I worked so hard for. It's a little splurge but it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity...in my life, at least. I really love one picture in particular on her site, of a naked prego woman in a studio with a black softly lit background, with fabric draped around her body, showing her shape, and blowing in the wind behind her. If I can get that one picture reproduced, I'll be happy.
No pics this time. I took some last week but can't find them...must be pregnancy brain.

And I didn't even worry about my scar, but so you know its thin and small. It's the fup above it with stretch marks that is gross!
